terms:
- All-In: When a player moves all of their chips
into the middle for the hand
- Add-On: The last chance for players to re-buy
in a tournament where they can re
- Any Ace: An ace with a kicker that is considered
no big threat for instance an A-4
- Big Ace: An ace with a big kicker such as an
A-K
- Big Flop: A flop that is flopped and greatly
improves your hand
- Big Slick: When you're dealt to an AK
- Blind: Required opening bet; most often referred
to as the big or small blind
- The Board: Five community cards shared by all
of the players in Texas hold’em
- Bully: An aggressive player who is usually the
chip leader and will quickly and aggressively
bully the other players into situations where
they have to play more aggressively too in order
to stay in the game
- Button: The round disc that indicates which
player is the dealer and also gets to act last
on the hand in play
- Buy-in: The buy-in is the amount of money which
a player is expected to pay in order to buy in
for a particular tournament
- Call: Stay in the game by throwing in the same
amount of money as the last player to bet
- Dead Man’s Hand: This is the hand that
Wild Bill Hickok had when he was murdered. It's
a pair of eights a pair of aces
- Doubling up: Something to watch for after someone
tilts ….usually requires someone to go all-in
- Flop: In Texas Hold’em, it's the first
three community cards
- Hole Cards: An individual player’s own
cards; dealt face down
- No-Limit: In no-limit, players may go all-in
with their chips as they wish
- Pocket Rockets: When a player has pocket aces
- Pot Limit: Bets are limited to the amount of
money in the pot
- River: The River card is the last card dealt
face up to the community in
- Texas Hold’em
- Showdown: The showdown occurs when all players
reveal their cards to determine a winner
- Turn Known as Fourth street, this card is the
fourth card dealt face up in Texas Hold’em.
