Bounded
by four of the Great Lakes of the United States,
Michigan is one of the Mid West states and is
situated north east of the continent.
Gambling is totally legal in the state of Michigan,
where 27 casinos are in operation, with at least
one being found in each of the 24 cities of
the state.
The state of Michigan proudly boasts the shoreline
containing only fresh water which is the longest
anywhere in the World.
As you would expect it has been estimated that
the state of Michigan is amongst the top three
American states for the number of recreational
boats, and certainly the largest land locked
one.
Michigan's population is over 10,000,000 people,
Spread out over an area of 56,000 square miles,
Michigan is home to ten million people. Its
capital is the city of Lansing with a population
of around half million.
The largest city in Michigan however is Detroit,
with more than a million people living there.
Detroit is home to three of the largest casinos.
Until fairly recently, all the casinos in Michigan
were situated on Indian Reservations. However
recent legislation means that they could also
be opened in cities.
Detroit is renowned world wide for its automobile
manufacturing industry, as well as being the
home of the Tamla’ Motown record label,
which fostered the talents of some of the greatest
legends in soul music of the nineteen sixties.
Stevie Wonder. Marvin Gaye, the Four Tops, Temptations
and Diana Ross to name but a few.
As a result of liberal legislation in the state,
Michigan’s casino industry has ripened
to become the center of gambling in the massive
land mass that separates Atlantic City in the
East Coast and Las Vegas in the mid west.
There is strong but fair competition between
the city based casinos of Detroit and those
on the Indian Reservations, with the Canadian
Casinos of Ontario just over the border vying
for a piece of the action.
And the player is the one who wins, as the quality
of some of the casinos in Michigan would do
either Las Vegas or Atlantic City proud. The
superstar of the Michigan casino scene is the
fabulous Four Winds Casino Resort.
Based around a 100 room hotel, on a park measuring
more than 600 hundred acres, the Four Winds
has over one hundred tables for the gambler
to test his skills on poker, roulette, blackjack
and craps in a 130,000 play area. Sounds like
a lot, but when you consider that the casino
houses more than 3000 slot machines, you will
realize that the space was not wasted.
Restaurants and bars are there for your pleasure,
and are open around the clock to service the
people who are hungry or thirsty after their
gambling session to sit back, relax and enjoy
a sumptuous meal.
Michigan takes its gambling seriously as well
as its gamblers. If you are planning a trip
to the state, you know that you will be in the
best of hands.
