Many
people who play slots are eager to discover a
way to predict when the big jackpot will hit.
They want to know when the best time is to play,
and whether there is any way to determine when
the jackpot is almost ready to hit. Does anyone
really know the answers to these questions? Unfortunately,
the answer is that there is no answer. No time
is better than any other, and the jackpot is
not predictable. No one can tell you when it
will come up.
The jackpot on these machines is always completely
random. It is determined by the random number
generator on the machines. Each slot machine
has its own random number generator, and every
time the machine is played, it uses that random
number generator to determine the outcome of
the play. There is one number that will trigger
the jackpot, and each play has just as much
chance of hitting that number as any other,
regardless of the size of the jackpot. The odds
are the same regardless of the machine you are
playing on, the time of day, how many people
are playing at one time, or any other variables.
The jackpot is just as likely to occur within
an hour after the last jackpot was reached as
it is when the jackpot is in the millions.
However, there are some exceptions. In a few
cases, there may be cues to indicate that the
time for the jackpot to hit may be near. If
you are playing a single-game or single-casino
progressive, then the casino employees may be
able to give you an idea of what level the jackpot
has reached before it paid out in the past.
If it is close to that level, it may be ready
to hit again, especially if it has a history
of reaching about the same level each time the
jackpot is hit.
The other scenario that may indicate a jackpot
is due is more like a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Often, when the jackpot on when of the big games,
such as Megabucks, gets high, a lot more people
start playing it. Because there are so many
more people playing, the odds increase that
one of them will win, just because of the number
of spins that are being made on the machines.
There are no guarantees, however. Even if a
jackpot is higher than it has even been before,
it could still keep going higher. New records
are being set all the time. It could take millions
of spins to reach the jackpot, even if it looks
like it’s overdue. It all goes back to
that random number generator. No one can predict
when it will bring up the winning number.
Playing when the jackpot is high can be a good
strategy. But remember that it is not guaranteed.
Set a spending limit and stick to it, just as
you would at any other time. It’s true
that no one can predict the jackpot, but one
thing is certain. You’ll never win if
you don’t play. So go ahead and take a
chance. You might just be the next big winner.
