Regardless
of what game you are playing, being able to manage
your money is a vital skill when you are gambling.
The number one rule is that you should never bet
more than you can afford to lose. The number two
rule is don’t bet any money that would cause
you to feel distressed if you lost it. This depends
on your personality. Some people can have thousands
of dollars and still be distressed if they lose
twenty. Others might be able to bet all but enough
to cover their basic bills and still not give
it another thought.
When you are gambling, your goal should be to
have a good time. If it is not fun, you shouldn’t
be doing it. When deciding how much you should
bet, think about how much a fun evening is worth
to you. If you don’t make any money at all
gambling, how much is the evening worth to you?
Once you have decided how much money to bring
with you to the casino, you need to decide how
much to bet at one time. The easiest way to do
this is to divide your entire bankroll by fifty.
For example, if your bankroll is $100, you shouldn’t
bet more than $2 at a time. If you want to make
$5 bets, you need at least $250.
That will give you enough money to survive a dry
spell or catch a hot roll. If you are able to
double your money, you’re doing great. Once
you do, you should quit. If you’re a right
bettor and there’s a hot roll, you should
leave once it ends. They don’t come along
often, so that’s a good time to stop for
the night.
The opposite is true if you are betting wrong.
If there is a cold spell, you should leave the
table when the cold spell ends.
You should always set a loss limit before you
go into a casino. Decide how much you can afford
to lose, and stick to that limit. Never dip into
money that was not designated in advance for gambling.
Once you have lost the money you had set aside
for playing, it’s time to leave the casino.
You can always play again another day.
