There are two main ways to bet in craps, with
the dice or against the dice. If you are betting
with the dice, you are betting that there will
be a lot of 7’s and 11’s in the
come-out roll. You are also betting that the
shooter will be able to establish a point and
then roll that number again before sevening
out. When you bet this way, you are betting
right. This doesn’t mean it is better
than betting against the dice. It is a just
a term that is used to describe this betting
method.
If you are betting wrong, then you are betting
against the dice. In this case, you are betting
on craps being rolled on the first roll, or
the shooter not making his or her point. Whether
you bet right or wrong, the odds of winning
are about the same.
Craps is a game that is based on luck, but proper
strategy can improve your chances. You need
to choose your bets wisely. Some have much better
odds than others. If you place bets that have
a big house edge, you are likely to lose your
money.
Good Bets for Right Bettors
The best bet for a right bettor is
the pass line bet. This bet offers the lowest
house edge. Whenever a point is established,
you should also take odds on the point. Ask
the dealer what the maximum amount you can bet
on the odds is, and bet that amount.
If the pass line bet doesn’t provide enough
action for you, place one or two come bets as
well. Place the maximum odds bet on the come
wagers as well.
By making only these bets, you will have the
best chance of winning with a hot roll. The
house has a very small edge on these bets. You
have almost as much chance of winning as you
do of losing, but not quite.
If you want to be a little more aggressive about
your betting, you could also make a place bet
on the 6 or 8. The casino has a larger advantage
on this bet, but you could make some good money
if there are long rolls.
These are the only bets you should consider
if you are betting right. The house advantage
is too large on other bets. If you place bets
where the house edge is high, you can run out
of money quickly.
Good Bets for Wrong Bettors
If you are betting against the dice, you should
make a don’t pass bet. After the point
is established, lay a single odds bet against
it. Never lay double odds, because if there
is a hot roll your money will quickly disappear.
If you want to play more aggressively, you
can make one or two don’t come bets and
lay single odds wagers against them as well.
These are the only good bets for wrong bettors. |
